It is a matter of fact that Rohit Sharma will no more be captaining the Mumbai Indians side in IPL 2024. Instead MI owners did an internal deal with Gujarat Titans and bought Hardik Pandya to captain MI in this year’s IPL. However, fans are not happy about this decision as it makes no sense to give Hardik the captaincy when this isn’t the last season for Rohit.

Is this Rohit Sharma’s last IPL season?

It is very much understood that this might be the last IPL season for MS Dhoni and giving Ruturaj Gaikwad the captaincy is a sensibly decision. Is MI trying to do the same? Are they thinking Rohit will retire soon and passing the batten is a progressive move? Well! nobody knows the truth as of now.

Looking at the form Rohit is in and the fitness levels especially since the World cup, everything is top notch. Rohit’s interviews clearly point towards his focus, that is ICC tournaments(T20 World Cups, Longer format cups). Rohit doesn’t seem to be someone more focused on captaincy rather than performance but will MI suffer because of their own sins?

Was it just The GT captain?

Mumbai Indians move clearly shows there mindset which doesn’t make sense in cricketing world. It was a team effort when Gujarat Titans won the Title in their 1st season and went to Finals in their 2nd season. Seems like MI has a counter to this fact, according to them it was just Hardik. That’s ridiculous! No logic, No logic at all. What if MI doesn’t even qualify for the playoffs this time? Will that be because Hardik is a bad player? No! it would be again a team effort.

Tournaments can’t be won by an individual, it is always a team effort. If this is not Rohit’s last IPL season, it was really insensitive and illogical of MI to remove him from captaincy.
